Here's part 2 of "Learning to Love and Live Again". It's not exactly 100% the requirements of the challenge, but I'm trying to meet most of them.

Also, one very important warning:
WARNING!:  Here is Buffy canon. Here is Lord of the Rings canon. Here is an open window. See me tossing both canons out the window and swiftly shutting and locking said window so they can't come back in.  Any questions?

See disclaimer etc. on first post. for this story.

To Be continued in part 3: Expanding Social Circles

So... Here's the first bit I have written of one of the challenge fics that piqued my muse's interest. I'm about 1/2 done with Part 3 of Best and Promised Fate, so hopefully that will post soon as well.
Title: Living And Loving In Middle Earth
Author: Beriaearwen
Disclaimer: The characters of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" belong to Joss Whedon. The characters of "The Lord Of The Rings" belong to J. R. R. Tolkein. Both are used here without permission. No copyright infringement is intended.
Crossover: Buffy the Vampire Slayer / Lord of the Rings
Characters: Buffy, Legolas, Aragorn
Challenge: Challenge 4516: Learning to Live And Love Again by AmesWhite in which after either a disagreement with her friends, failed romance or bad patrol, Buffy ends up with the opportunity to go to Middle Earth and it must include Buffy as a member of the fellowship, a friendship between Buffy and Eowyn, Slayer dreams, romance and Buffy as an immortal. Also requested is either a Buffy/Legolas romance or a Buffy/Legolas friendship.
Notes on the challenge: My beginning my not exactly meet the challenge, but it did get her to Middle Earth. :-) As for the rest of it, we'll have to wait and see. Though I'm not all that crazy about writing romance, I'll work on something for Buffy and Legolas, just don't expect anything beyond PG-13.
Pairing: Buffy/Legolas
Rating: Suitable for people over 13

New Years and a waking muse

With the dawning of the new year, I've decided to make a few changes. The first being that I'm going to finish "Best and Promised Fate" before posting it. Right now I've got the third chapter in the works. It's big on information and essentially describes the entire purpose of the fic. Depending on how it goes, I may not do anything more than add a forth and final chapter where Buffy fulfills the prophesy and be done with it.

As I have said before this story is not canon compliant. There are warnings all over the place that attest to this and the whole thing is because of a prophesy that was given on Elladan's birth. Hopefully the readers who don't have apoplexy at the sight of something non-canon will enjoy the story.

In the meantime, I've discovered the challenges section on TTH and looked up some LotR and Highlander challenges that have remained unanswered.

Boy did that send my muse into raptures. Silly thing won't shut up. She's already outlined stories for nine challenges and prodded me into writing random scenes and descriptions for two of them. Those will not be posting at TTH until they are 100% complete. I may post them here though as I get the chapters written. One of them is going to take forever (read most likely over a year) to write since the outline my muse dictated involves re-doing the first 5 years or so of Buffy and going through the entire War Of The Rings. Of course, I could probably pare that down if I just focus on a few major events which show the changes rather than actually detailing things. Hopefully that will bring it down to a more manageable level.

Anyway, if time permits and my muse continues to babble at me, hopefully there will be fanfics for me to put here and, eventually, post at TTH.

With the posting of Chapter 3 of Best and Promised Fate, I'll most likely take down the other two stories and combine them all into one with chapters. It should make for easier tracking for those who asked. :-)

Check-in & pouting session

Successfully finished the twisted shorts back in August. Aside from one major goof on my part when I combined two completely different fics from two completely different universes, everything went well. There were a few minor blips, but that's to be expected when trying to find 31 different bits of media (book, tv show, movie, etc) to use. :-) I felt rather proud of myself for completing that.

Then tried to write a series of shorts to answer a question that had been bothering me. Got nit-picked to death when I posted the first story despite the warning that there would be mistakes and despite the fact that what I wrote *had* to happen because, oh, well, THE HUGE PROPHESY AT THE BEGINNING SAID IT WOULD.

After discovering that everything I did in those fics from capitalizing the first letter of each sentence to using a period at the end of the sentence was wrong and went against canon (yes I'm exagerating a bit, but that's what the nit-picking felt like), I've lost all desire to post the rest of the stories for fear of more negative feedback.

I suppose I could just ignore the feedback, but given that I flinch when I even see my story listed, it probably won't do me much good. *sigh* *pout*

Why can I stand in front of an auditorium full of people and teach, lecture, present or perform without a second thought, but posting what's supposed to be a fun story online scares me to death?

To quote the Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop commercial: "The world may never know." ;-)

Insanity has arrived

Despite my own best judgement, I've decided to try my hand at a month-long challenge in a fandom i've never written in before. Each post will be a Buffy The Vampire Slayer crossover and will be posted at Twisted Shorts as well as Twisting The Hellmouth.

Now we just need to wait and see how it goes.

The first contribution can be read at TTH here: Family Secrets. I'll hopefully be adding more as I go. It's just a collection of ficlets about how various characters are tied to the Buffyverse.

The first one is Severus Snape from the Harry Potter universe. I also have an entry for Martha Kent from Superman ready to go and ideas for several other fandoms as well. We'll have to see how it goes.

In addition, I have two other stories I'm working on right now. One is a Buffy/Lord Of The Rings xover and the other is a Buffy/Nightwing xover (well, a bit of Batman too on that last one, which is probably what I'll post it under).

More updates as warranted. Maybe later I'll post the ficlet from today here.
